Jose Mourinho has been heavily linked to turn into the new Manchester United manager, but Indonesia are keen to land the Portuguese rather.
Indonesia have set out around the ambitious activity of appointing Jose Mourinho as their new national team coach, based on youth and sports minister Imam Nahrawi.
Indonesia – ranked 185th inside the planet – are banned by FIFA from competing in international fixtures, like qualifiers for the 2018 Planet Cup and 2019 Asian Cup, resulting from the government’s interference inside the country’s national league final year.
Nahrawi said he’s keen to return enthusiasm in Indonesia’s national group, beginning with appointing an knowledgeable foreign coach to take over the reins.
“This strategy has been discussed with President Joko Widodo along with the Chairman on the Indonesian Olympics Committee, Erick Thohir, despite the fact that this won?ˉt be easy,” Nahrawi mentioned on Tuesday.
“Our national group head coach has to be a foreigner, accompanied with our regional coaches as his assistant.”
Thohir, who is also the president of Serie A outfit Inter – exactly where Mourinho coached involving 2008 and 2010 – advised Nahrawi about the Portuguese’s salary expectations.
“When I asked Erick, Mourinho’s salary is about Rp250 billion [equivalent to ?ê13million or €16.5million] per year,” Nahrawi stated.
Thohir also threw a further name into the mix if Indonesia fails to land the self-proclaimed ‘special one’.
“The motivation is the fact that we wish to awaken the fighting spirit of the players,” Nahrawi added. “If Mr. Erick mentioned not Jose Mourinho, but Guus Hiddink as an alternative.”
